HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION / 2025

Human-Computer Interaction

Two interface design challenges: rethinking how students create quizzes, and making target selection faster in a dense interface.

BAKE-OFF 1 / MOBILE QUIZ CREATION

Quizzes-Tutor

01

Goal: Redesign the student-facing mobile interface for creating quizzes in IST's Quizzes-Tutor system.

The high-fidelity Figma prototype explores three ways to create a quiz: from scratch, collaboratively with another student, and with AI. The flow focuses on making quiz setup clear while supporting different rules, question types, and access settings.

BAKE-OFF 2 / TARGET SELECTION

Selection in Dense UIs

02

Goal: Find a faster, reliable way to select items from a crowded 80-target grid.

We iterated on how the targets were arranged and signalled. The tested versions used alphabetical grouping, colour changes, sound feedback, and a grouped layout. Each participant completed repeated selection trials. The results below report mean time per target in each iteration.

A/B TEST / 22 PARTICIPANTS

Mean time per target

In the 22-participant sample, Iteration 3 was faster than Iteration 1 (paired test, p = 0.00004). Iteration 2 did not show a significant difference from Iteration 1 (p = 0.341).
